Social Media Policy

Fairapy's Social Media Policy

Fairapy Social Media Policy

At Fairapy, we use social media to educate, uplift, and help reduce the stigma around mental health. While our online presence allows us to share helpful content and stay engaged with our community, it’s important to us that your privacy and therapeutic relationship remain protected. This policy explains how we use social media and how it may impact your relationship with your therapist.

If you ever have questions about this policy, we encourage you to talk to your therapist. Social media is always evolving, and we may update this policy from time to time. If we do, we’ll post the new version online and let you know during your session.

Our main priority is to protect your confidentiality and the integrity of your therapeutic work. While you have the right to share anything about your therapy experience, your therapist is professionally and ethically obligated to keep your identity as a client private, unless there is a safety concern (as outlined in our informed consent).

Please keep in mind that if you interact with our social media pages (liking, commenting, or following), others might be able to infer that you are connected to Fairapy.

Our Social Media Boundaries

FRIENDING
To respect your confidentiality, Fairapy therapists and team members do not accept friend requests from current or former clients on personal social media accounts.

LIKING & FOLLOWING
You're welcome to follow Fairapy’s public accounts (like Instagram or Facebook) if you find our content helpful. Please note that doing so may link you to our clinic publicly. While we don’t engage in direct conversation with clients on public posts, we love sharing resources and inspiration for those who choose to follow along. Our therapists will not follow or interact with current or former clients on social media.

MESSAGING
Please do not use direct messages on social media to contact your therapist or the clinic. These platforms are not monitored regularly and are not secure. For any scheduling needs, the best way to reach us is by phone or email.

SHARING ONLINE CONTENT
If something from your online life is relevant to your therapy, you’re always welcome to bring it into session. This gives space for intentional exploration in a confidential setting.

GOOGLING CLIENTS
We do not search for information about our clients online. We believe therapy should be grounded in what you share in session, not what we might find on the internet. If we come across your profile or content unintentionally, we will respectfully move on without reading further.

REVIEWS & TESTIMONIALS
You might find Fairapy listed on online directories that allow public reviews. These listings are not invitations to leave testimonials, and our therapists are prohibited by professional guidelines from requesting or responding to reviews—positive or negative. Your privacy matters deeply to us, and we encourage you to protect your own confidentiality when posting in public spaces. If you choose to leave a review, consider using a pseudonym not linked to your personal accounts.

If you ever feel unsatisfied with your experience at Fairapy and do not feel comfortable bringing it up directly with your therapist, you have the right to contact our professional regulatory body:

College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)
375 University Avenue, Suite 800
Toronto, ON M5G 2J5

Communicating Outside of Social Media

EMAIL
Email can be used for scheduling or logistical communication. Please avoid sending therapeutic content through email, as it is not fully secure. Emails are stored in both your and our service provider's logs, which are not completely private.

TEXTING
Clients sometimes text the clinic for quick matters like rescheduling or running late. That’s okay! Just know that text messages are not always secure and should be used for appointment-related communication only.

In Closing

Thank you for reviewing Fairapy’s Social Media Policy. We’ve created this to protect your confidentiality and provide clarity about our boundaries online. If you have any questions or concerns, we’re here to talk about them in session.
