 Children’s Counselling (Ages 4-11)

A child in therapy, expressing their emotions through art with a professional

Childhood is full of transitions, big feelings, and new experiences. Sometimes those challenges become overwhelming, and that’s where we come in.
At Fairapy, we understand how difficult it can be to watch your child struggle. Our team of therapists help children gain confidence, strengthen emotional awareness, and learn positive strategies to handle life’s ups and downs.

OUR APPROACH

What your child might be facing:

Children can experience many of the same emotional challenges as adults, but often lack the tools to express what they’re feeling. Therapy can help if your child is struggling with:

What You Might See                                                                        What Might Be Going On

Tantrums & meltdowns                              Overwhelmed, powerless, or unable to express big emotions

Clinginess or withdrawal                                            Uneasy, sadness, or needing additional reassurance

Perfectionism or people-pleasing
Fear of failure or wanting to feel accepted and valued

Difficulty sleeping                                                  Stress and worry surfacing  once routine quiets down

Defiance & resistance                                      Trying to gain control or cope with confusing emotions

Frequent stomachaches                                                     Emotional stress showing up through the body

When to Consider Therapy for Your Child
Recognizing when your child could use additional support isn’t always straightforward. Below are some indicators that speaking with a therapist might be helpful:

  • Ongoing trouble sleeping or recurring bad dreams.

  • Pulling away from friends, family, or activities they used to enjoy.

  • Noticeable shifts in mood, behavior, or eating habits.

  • Having a hard time expressing or understanding their emotions.

  • Struggling with transitions or changes in routine.

  • Persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety, or irritability.

What We Offer

In our cozy space, we use toys, games, and creative activities to help children explore their  feelings and experiences in a natural, non-verbal way. It helps them process experiences, build trust, and feel more in control.

Children are natural storytellers and are creative in their own individual ways. This type of therapy helps them understand their experiences and identity by exploring their own stories and discovering their strengths.

Feeling overwhelmed or lost as a parent? We work alongside caregivers to provide insight into their child’s behaviour and offer practical strategies for support at home. We aim to strengthen the parent-child relationship and create consistency between sessions and everyday life. Teaching children how to ground themselves helps them feel calmer, more focused, and more present. We teach simple breathing techniques, grounding exercises, and body awareness activities to help reduce stress and improve self-regulation.
