Starting Therapy

  • Fairapy is a psychotherapy and counselling practice dedicated to making mental health care accessible, supportive, and empowering. Our team provides evidence-based therapy in a compassionate, non-judgmental environment for individuals, couples, and families.

  • We offer in-person sessions at 381 Queen Street, Peterborough, Ontario, as well as virtual therapy across Ontario.

  • Yes. Fairapy provides secure virtual sessions for clients who prefer to attend from home or who live outside Peterborough. Virtual therapy is available throughout Ontario.

  • You can book an appointment directly through our online booking system. If you’re unsure which therapist or service is the right fit, we’re happy to help guide you.

  • No referral is required. You can book therapy at Fairapy independently.

  • Your first session focuses on understanding your concerns, goals, and background. Your therapist will explain confidentiality, answer questions, and work collaboratively with you to create a treatment plan that feels supportive and manageable.

  • Fairapy therapists use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, trauma-informed care, and integrative modalities tailored to each client’s needs.

  • Standard therapy sessions are 50 minutes unless otherwise arranged.

  • Yes. All therapists at Fairapy are registered or qualifying professionals who adhere to their respective regulatory colleges’ ethical guidelines.

  • Yes. All sessions are confidential and follow professional and legal standards of privacy, with the exception of limits required by law (such as risk of harm to self or others).

  • Fairapy therapists use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, trauma-informed care, and integrative modalities tailored to each client’s needs.

  • Standard therapy sessions are 50 minutes unless otherwise arranged.

  • Payment is required at the time of booking or immediately following your session. We accept electronic payment methods.

  • Fairapy does not bill insurance directly. After each session, you will receive a receipt that can be submitted to your extended health benefits provider for reimbursement if psychotherapy is covered.

  • Sliding scale options may be available depending on therapist availability. Please inquire if financial accessibility is a concern.

In-Person Session Information

  • Fairapy is located at 381 Queen Street, Peterborough. The waiting area is located at the back of the building. Please arrive on time and keep noise to a minimum to respect other clients.

  • Street parking is available nearby. Please allow extra time to find parking before your appointment.

  • You do not need to bring anything specific. If forms are required, they will be sent to you electronically prior to your session.

  • We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee.

  • If you have additional questions or need help choosing the right service, please contact us directly or reach out through our booking system. We’re here to help.
